Be Kind to Yourself and Your Heart

My dearest Kynsiegirl,

I have contemplated writing this letter for a while, and I feel as if now is the time. I am here to offer you some advice, although I know it is unsolicited I hope it will help you understand just how special you are to me and to so many others. You are at a point in your life where sometimes life seems hard and often times unfair, but don't let that define who you are or hold you back. You have so many memories awaiting you that are going to be bigger and better than you ever imagined! With only a few weeks left of your high school career, lets focus on the bigger picture.

Always stay true to yourself because you are your first best friend. I wish I could protect you from heartbreak, but unfortunately it seems to be something that we all experience at least once in our lifetime. Whether it be from a break up with a boyfriend, the loss of a relationship with a close friend, or a situation that arises that no matter how hard you try--you still have no control over it. Although I cannot shield you from this, I can promise you that you won’t ever have to go through anything alone.  While it’s awful to go through, you are one of the strongest girls I know and you will get through it, and your mom and I will be cheering you on every step of the way.

Be kind to yourself and your heart. Allow yourself time to cry and to feel sad for what didn't go as planned, but don't cry for long. Pick your head up and make the most of your situation. Find your true friend in it all and go off and laugh together no matter how big or small your circle has become. I want you to know that you are so unbelievably intelligent, beautiful, and strong and able to conquer any task in the world. Don’t let the darkness in others dim your brilliant light. I know you are meant for great things, and I cannot wait to have a front row seat to it all.

There is a whole world out there just waiting on you to discover and explore it. Keep pushing through my amazing girl. You are my namesake so I already know that you have it in you to be bold, be brave, and be the best overall version of you!

I love you to heaven and back!
